i will always leave good feedback unless i receive poor service or the seller takes days to post etc
the amount of stuff i order which states next day delivery and it takes a week for them to post it
so when that happens i will still leave positive but i will say very slow delivery and enter slow on the star rating
i think in all the yrs i've been with ebay i have only ever left 2 negative and about 3 neutral and that was because they really mucked me about

First post here so I'll start off with a hello to all...
I've used Ebay for many years; since its inception in fact, mainly as a buyer, and always found it to be really very poor and llogical in its operation. It's got VERY much worse in recent years though...
Sellers have, by various means flagged up the unfair structure of DSRs - They're illogical as the OP suggests; and offer no sort of useful gauge to the buyer. Clearly they're not in the seller's interests either. So who benefits? (Rhetorical question!) It seems GROSSLY unfair that even when a seller has problems with a buyer, and Ebay acknowledge the buyer to be at fault, the seller can't leave negative feedback.
- The old system where rogue sellers could leave retalliatory feedback was bad; but this is NO improvement. and DSRs are clearly just a means for Ebay to justify even-higher charges.
Certainly they system doesn't seem to be encouraging legitimate sellers to come to Ebay; in the past 18 months I've had more missing parcels, shoddy goods and general problems than the rest of what must be close to a decade of using Ebay... Buyer protection is useless; on one recent occasion I paid for two items (video lights) got now't and ebay only refunded me HALF what I'd paid! - All communication was simply ignored on the matter. On another they closed a dispute against a seller who they agreed hadn't posted the item, but hadn't refunded me either!
Customer service and contact seems to me specifically designed into frustrating the user into simply giving up on their complaint!
As a buyer I use Ebay a FRACTION of the amount I used it a few years back... I NEVER now buy internationally (used to buy loads from the U.S.) and basically don't trust it.
- I've sold (and still do occasionally) personal items on it. But high fees (PayPal and Ebay combined) discourage this
- I don't care what physical auction houses charge; 9 times out of 10 the clutter stays cluttering up the place because it's not worth the hassle and expense of selling it via Ebay.
Business wise?
- Hard to see how a legitimate seller can compete against those prepared to trot out copyright-infringing material at less than the cost of half-decent raw materials. Most of the legitimate stuff seems to be loss-leader items; increasingly parcels arrive with links to the seller's own site. Which is fair enough IMHO.
If only they HAD some real competition!

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum.
Why didn't you get your refunds from ebay?
I'll never open an ebay dispute for anything, always to paypal, they have slightly more common sense, and stick to their rules unlike ebay

NO idea! - they refunded the price of just ONE of the two items I paid for but never arrived, closed the case and refuse to respond to complaints! - I was left about £15 out of pocket on that occasion. The other one I went though the credit card company eventually.
AFAIK Paypal railroad you through the Ebay system...
If you scratch around the 'net is full of Ebay/Paypal horror stories... Life being too short to get all bent out of shape many people are just voting with their feet.

If you log into paypal direct, and go via the resolution centre, I've heard way too many horror stories on the ebay forums about an ebay claim

Your friend will have those listing removed by eBay as it's against the TOS to encourage people to leave 5 stars like that.

Gary, american sellers get away with a lot more than we do over this side of the pond...... sadly
