Problem is, when someone says a "car" or an "animal" there are HUGE variations of car designs and animal designs. Anything is available to whatever design you want. But, no, not every permutation of any design is available off the shelf. Just like the start of this thread the product doesn't exist, but the UK is one step ahead in that the material is readily available. So you don't have to buy telephone numbers of such an item and wait several weeks for it to arrive, cut in a new and untested material.

The set up costs depend on how complex the image is. These are laser cut so a the image (your drawing to scale which you'll need to supply) needs to be digitised for laser cutting.
Sorry Martin, I understand that set up costs will vary but I just wanted to know if it was a feasible thing to pursue and if it the end product would be value for money. As an example, how much would the total costs be, including setup, laser cut etc if a 6 sided star was cut with a 25cm diameter (i.e the star would fit into a square 25cm by 25cm) x 100?
If I can't see how much it would be on examples then it wouldn't be worthwhile spending time and effort getting some thought into designs without knowing how much a 'basic' design would be .................... if you see what I mean?

It's a bit like one of your customers asking for a printed mug with their own photo on it. It doesn't exist when they ask but can be readily made when ever needed. You have the blank mug and capability to print it where as the sheet material is readily available and can be cut to virtually any shape when needed.
I have had frp and aluminium cut in the past and had big plans for it's uses but couldn't find a reliable company to cut it when needed. Even nearly bought a router but getting information on costs of use etc also proved to be complicated. Gave up in the end even though I had orders piling up for the cutouts. Might be one for the future.

Elaine, I've no problem using the forum as a focus group but should you start to make these items what would be the situation selling within the UK? Do you have a distribution network in place? The majority of members will be small buyers and won't be interested in ordering 1000 of this or that, worth bearing in mind.
