I use sawgrass inks in my old ricoh SG3110 just for mugs. The blacks are spot on. BUT (you knew there would be a but) I only use 1 type of mug from 1 supplier and 1 type of paper. I use two aadkins presses (each has it's own time and temp) and a GK K3 which is at a totally different time and temp. If I change a blanket I need to fine tune again.

Now my old Epson 1500w has just died, that was on inktec ink. I have to agree with the above, the ink tec ink prints from the epson had more wiggle room when it came to time / temperature.

If I put a new blanket in a press the inktec ink would almost always print perfectly straight away, the sawgrass ink would require a bit of fettling.

As always I am sure I haven't been any help really.

I use Sublisplash inks and perfectly okay

Biggest issue I've heard about Sublisplash is they're not much cheaper than Sawgrass? If they're considerably better I would understand it but if you've bought a Sawgrass printer and Sawgrass inks the print should be as good as it gets or....back to Sawgrass.

I have a VJ628 which is 8 colour SG inks and the print is absolutely superb. I use Black, Light Black and Light Light Black though. I run other printers using Inktec inks and these have always been exellent.

What I forgot to say was that I'm using sublisplash inks in my Ricoh SG3110 and the blacks print perfectly OK.

I've always had good results with Sawgrass Inks.
The fading of black could be your paper or a heat related issue.
What paper are you using and what press are you using and the temperature & Time ect?

Thanks for everyone's input. I think I found out what my issue was and it turns out it wasn't the sawgrass Black. Anyhow, valuable input from all as I will try the InkExperts ink, which is much cheaper.

I'm in the market for a new sublimation printer. I'm looking at the Epson's that inkexperts.co.uk sell, particularly - EPSON ECOTANK L1800.

Anyone got this or similar and can offer an opinion on it. Any better options I should be considering? I want to switch over to less expensive inks (currently using Sawgrass) probably InkTec inks. I produce mugs but also some other items that require A3+ size paper. What machines do people recommend?

A couple of weeks ago we swapped from Sawgrass to the L1800 using InkTec inks from Ink Experts.

We are really pleased with the switch and find the blacks much better and the print quality superb in comparison.

It does seem a bit slower but it's worth it.

The support from Ink Experts was also very good.

Hi Gary,

We purchased a new PC and installed Affinity Photo as it's currently on offer and didn't want to splash out on another Photoshop.

Ideally we would prefer to run through RIP too but haven't had the time to have a proper look into this yet.
