As someone new to this business its well worth a visit. If it costs you £200 for the day its still a cheap day out. Think how much it would cost you to visit just 6 suppliers who exhibit at the show. It would probably be,at a minimum, £50 each one, plus how many days?. You get to see many more suppliers than that, all in the space of a few hours.

Its the best £200 you'll spend.

I totally agree Froggy, its rare a person will get such an opportunity otherwise in the UK to meet suppliers, manufacturers and other relevant companies in one place.

I have already registered my free ticket, but still not sure what day im going yet (will confirm here when i do), but a meetup sounds great

Froggy that is such a good way to explain to anyone why they should go, we use that reasoning with all of the shows we attend.

My biggest tips would be - Don't get caught up looking at things that are fascinating, but don't relate to your sector of business ie spending 40 mins looking at a large format printer / embroidery machine if your business does not include them.

Take at least a bottle of water with you, shows are renowned for having crap food & drink at ridiculous prices, so have lunch on the way out or a good breakfast at a pub on the way in. J2 of the M6 taybarn all you can eat breakfast, if you are heading from that direction.

That was me the first year we went to P&P! Thought I was going to look at mugs and coasters etc........ 'OOhhh look at that - we could make THESE and THOSE and now I want to design embroidered jackets!, no: print coffee tables!, no: leather aprons! Enormous blankets and tiny badges! I want one of everything to play with!

Went home, spent months researching (not least on here) and refining the plan, went back to the show the next year fully focussed and able to take advantage of the show deals (& room for negotiation) on printers and presses, confident of the exact models we needed. It took a lot to get to that point though, and the first year was just getting a feel for possibilities really.

I'm in the market for a new solvent/eco solvent printer this year ( next year), so I will probably give it a go. Haven't been to the Nec for about 20 years, so might be interesting.

Print wear and promotion is great. The only real show I look forward to every year. I’ve only been for the past 2 shows and it’s great to pick up tips and new equipment. On the look out for a DTG printer this year!! I would also look at the free workshops and lectures. Some great informative talks take place and above all, it’s a great way to build a relationship with new suppliers.
