File / print / print setup from Illustrator or PS.
Highlight Virtuoso Print Manager as the printer, right click printing preferences.
Layout tab - click advanced
Change your DPI to 600 or 1200.

Should fix the issue you have:)

Hi Andysam, I know a year has past on this thread but I’m having the same issues with banding on an SG800 when printing gradients. What was the outcome, did changing the settings as suggested solve the banding on gradients?

Hi Cas. No we got rid of Sawgrass software and now print direct from photoshop. Perfect every time.

How do you print out of Photoshop?
I tried printing directly to the SG800 out of photoshop with the icc profiles i could find in the Virtuoso Print Manager install file.
But the colors are off.. images printed through VPM are much more saturated.
