a teflon sheet will be much better than a towel. you will probably end up burning the towel. the teflon sheets are heat resistant. i got mine on ebay, lol

Thanks I've bought a large ptfe sheet described as simply "thick" on ebay. Do you think this will help lessen the platen marks though? I can but give it a go i suppose. Seems solving this is a bit of a holy grail when pressing poly tees though im sure was less of a problem with vapor shirts over the current gildan. If only they weren't so relatively pricey. Going to buy and try some xpres ones next...

just remember to use one shirt several times, even cut up the one you have just used, and press smaller parts of designs until you get it right. remembering to tear the edges of the transfer sheet.

Hi just to update this thread, in case anyone else searches and finds it (isn't it annoying when there IS no solution!). I've basically solved it after much trial and error, by ignoring trying to get Gildan 47000's working and buying better sublimation poly tees. It appears cheaper ones are a false economy /waste of time and you have to spend a little (not much mind) more cash. The Xpres van101 seems both a decent price and decent enough quality to not get the dreaded platen marks so thumbs up for that product.
