If they are interchangeable then that's great. We sell so many of the TO71 range cartridges that I tend to loose count of which ones they fit into (especially after a late night last night!) :)
It's important not to confuse the T071XX cartridges with the T100X.

The T7011 (black) and the T1002, T1003, and T1004 (colour) can be used in both the B40W and B1100. If your CISS/refills are based on those cartridges, they will work in both printers.

The T1001 (black) and the T0712, T0713, and T0714 (colour) can only be used in the B40W. If your CISS/refills are based on these cartridges, they won't work in both printers.

The T071x colour cartridges are low-capacity cartridges which is why they probably won't work in the B1100 (who's going to use low capacity cartridges in an A3 printer?), but the T10xx colour cartridges are high-capacity cartridges that work in both B40W and B1100 (and a whole bunch of other) printers.

It would be useful to know which cartridges are used for the Sawgrass CISS so that we know if the CISS for the B1100 can fit in the B40W (which it should do).

I hope that's cleared things up. I only know this because I investigated the cartridges when I saw the B1100 refills being advertised as working in the B40W when there are clearly a different number of cartridges in the two printers.

The B40W Easyflow is a 4 cartridge system whereas the B1100 is a 5 cartridge system so they won't be interchangeable. You'll be 1 cart short fitting the B40W system into the B1100 and have 1 cart too many going the other way.

Yes but, in theory, if you have the B1100 CISS with 5 cartridges (based on the T10xx cartridges) then you could use it later on a B40W if you wished by just not fitting the second black.

It's already unfortunate that Sawgrass provide the Easyflow for the B1100 with two lots of black ink (200ml). Just because the printer has two black cartridges doesn't mean you're suddenly going to use twice as much black ink (black is one of the least used colours for me). It'd make far more sense if they supplied 2x50ml of black with 100ml of the other colours so that the Easyflow for the B1100 would cost the same as the Easyflow for the B40W (they do have the same four colours, after all).

I would like to buy new Easyflows for my new printers, but having the prices so high prices them out of the market. I daresay I'll buy new ones eventually but, for now, I'm sticking with refillables - wherein I'll be able to upgrade from my B40W to the B1100, a printer that uses the same cartridges, without having to buy two separate lots of kit and two separate lots of ink which I would do if going for Easyflow.

The double-irony here is that the T10xx/T0711 combination of cartridges is used on at least six other printers. All Sawgrass would have to do is to come up with a few more ICC profiles and we'd all have a much wider range of printers to pick from. Rather than throw out the baby with the bathwater (the CISS with the printer) when the printer is discontinued and hard to find, we'd have several others to pick from and slot our CISS into it. But that doesn't happen, it's just one printer or no printer.

It would work for others, too. For instance, the ink cartridges used in the 1400 can be used in five other printers (including the P50). But, once the 1400 is discontinued and we can't find a replacement then instead of using one of the other compatible printers we'd have to throw out the lot to buy a new CISS for whatever printer Sawgrass decides to support next.

I sometimes think that end-user convenience is an alien term.
