Spyder is more a home use toy. It probably wirks but you would need something more advance for good profile.

There are two different Spyders - one for monitors, and the other for printers - the kit we got had both devices.
The print profiling system measures around 1100 colour swatches, and although I am fully aware there are much more pro systems out there, for our work, it's definitely given us better results than ICCs from the ink manufacturer, and given us the option to use printers which don't have an available profile.

You get printers with 4, 6, 10 and more colours.... where do you stop what's good enough. 99.99999999999999% of people are happy with the results of a 4 colour printer. Any decent ICC profile is going to be much better than none. I'm more than happy with my £500 Spyder5STUDIO.
