Thanks for this advice, pw66. Just one question: I wouldn't need employer's insurance and public liability insurance would I, if I was just selling printed mugs, and posters? If I'm not at trade shows/markets, and just selling via a facebook page/website? I thought that it would be product liability that I would need? (Very confused by all of this).

No you wouldn't need either if you have no staff, or the public do not enter your premises ( unless you are a limited company, in which case you are an employee of the company, and will need employers liability regardless).
Often product liability is usually lumped in with the other two policies, so it could well be more expensive to get it on its own.

Most people in your position probably don't have any insurance, but you have to decide if that is a risk you want to take. If the handle drops off of a full mug there is going to be some 'no win, no fee' lawyer somewhere who will take the case.

Most shipping companies will include a level of insurance on the product being shipped as default, if not, it doesn't cost much extra - and is always good to have in the event that your product gets damaged in Transit.
