Try opening the file and copy the layers to a new document. Sometimes the file can get a weird corruption that produces spurious results with the printer. Had one last year that generated a red line half way down the page. Copy to new fixed it.

I re created the document with fresh layers and it still happened.

So I flushed the head, cleaned the nozzles but still prints bad. But I still don't think it's the printer as the printers test page is fine? I'm running out of ideas

Do you have this issue with any other document in ps?
what about when you create a new 300 dpi file and just add a text line and shape?

sounds like a corrupt file when this happens you have to rectreate from scratch. send me the file ill check it out for you.

I've re created today and it is still blurry. I copied layers over to a new file and it's still blurry

Did you try any other file, or creating text only etc and printing?

I created a doc with a different font which printed not as crisp as I would like.. but then I printed the fonts I used in my image on a fresh new document and they were still blurry!
