What's the expiry date like on the carts when you buy them? I guess if you're not printing enough to use them within the date then they may as well go on maintenance
Re: heat transfer printing on roland BN-20 my workflow :)
I just got some new ones beginning of December and the stamp says INSTALL before Sept 2016. A lot better than when I get sawgrass carts normally use before and 6 to 8 months.
Two other points..... the BN monitor utilities will tell you to take the carts out and shake them at the required intervals to stop them settling.
And the printer uses all of the ink inside the bags, there is a neat little mechanical lever that pops out when the bag is really empty and triggers an optical sensor on the printer.

And of course fill the replacable waste cartridge in the same time! Other consumables include the wiper, felt pad, as well as cleaning fluid and swabs to manually clean the head, part of a maintenence routine. The bn20 utility you load on your pc reminds you of all these tasks when connected to the printer if you don't do them regularly.

I'm thinking of buy one in 2016 I've seen them on ebay, but nervous of buying of ebay (never brought of ebay is the reason) where would the best place to buy one and is there a variance on price.

be very careful buying one off of ebay if you are not very technically minded there is quite a lot of upkeep.

For new you have various dealers to choose from. You might choose your nearest for support but perhaps wait until the P&P show to visit the bigger ones there like Xpres, Grafityp, MT and others. They are available used from many sources including Ebay which in itself isn't an issue as it may protect you with the paypal and Ebay assurances but as with anything you need to know what your looking at and indeed what to look for before taking a leap of faith because there is no guarantee (unless some is left!) New they come with a years warranty which is worth over £800 to buy and I think you get a free once over at the end of the year plus its extendable, any problems will be attended to by a Roland engineer.

Do they sell at the same price, silly questions I know they do but just checkingmr-gobby;107692 wrote:For new you have various dealers to choose from. Hi Jenny, they sell at the price Roland advise so currently it's £4499 + vat but they do sometimes have deals when the shows are on and you might be able to haggle some free vinyl etc. You also need to check whether carts are included etc. You can get a second hand one on ebay from about 3 to 4k but as mentioned above unless you know what you are looking at then there could be problems with heads etc which will end up costing you more than you've saved plus buying new they usually include setup so will show you how to use it etc and if anything does go wrong in the first year then you are covered.
Re: heat transfer printing on roland BN-20 my workflow :)
we have looked at these every time we are at a trade show. just cant seem to justify it. mainly because i dont think we have the time as we are so busy as is. i personally would like the next size up. i do not like limiting myself. have you done any banner material?
apologies i have not watched video yet if that is on there. i cant find one of the 7 sets of headphones that are about here somewhere. but will turn laptop on later and have a look. are you happy with the weeding of the detail?
