Hi Sam

The photography side has been a big learning curve but after a lot of time and effort I'm now getting good results which I'll bullet point how I work.

I'm using a Nikon D3200 with a Nikon 50mm Lens
2 x Photo Soft box lights with 5200 daylight bulbs
18% Grey Card A4 size.

I set up at night and once the soft boxes are on I turn off every other light.
Set the lights at around 40 degrees each side of the easel
Take a shot of the grey card to set up the White balance on the camera.
Have the camera set to shoot Raw images
then set up each individual painting on the easel making sure the camera is set to the same angle as the painting.

This then gives me good image quality and pretty true colours. As you know the pastel images are matt but if you need to photo oil paintings then a polarising filter is also required.

Let me know how you get on

Cheers

John
