New start-up
Re: New start-up
First test on the press...good print but tee is slightly scorched (slight yellow where the platen has met the tee) still trying to get all the settings right but pleased with the print overall, had the press on for 30 seconds at around 375 (175c) not sure whether this was a little too long for the pressing, was on JPSS PAPER on a supposed 100% cotton tee but seems to be a bit stretchy for cotton.
thanks

Re: New start-up
Hi Paul are you using a Teflon sheet to protect the platen and the the fabric. I have a large roll of Kraft paper that I bought form eBay that we use or as I said before a Teflon sheet. That should help prevent the scorching.
Cheers

Re: New start-up
I had the teflon sheet under the tee, not above it hence the scorching...me being a div lol..I will try again on another test tee.
I have also set the preliminary temp on the machine and the pressing temp also but when I check the machines current temp it is always going up and dosent seem to be regulating itself, I'm still messing with it with regards settings etc

Re: New start-up
Well I've just tried again, teflon sheet above and below as this was a tester with a design already on the back, put the press on and forgot about the teflon on the top, 5 seconds max, took it off and placed a teflon sheet over the tee, still getting scorching on 100% cotton. Press was set at 20 secs and 175C.
too much pressure, too much heat, too long in the press.....im using jpss and they say 30 seconds at 175c?
thanks

Re: New start-up
Well tested the press yesterday after messing around with the settings etc and tell you what, got some pretty decent prints off it to be honest, quite pleased.
Idle temperature and pressing temperature were a bit of trial and error, just lowered the time which was recommended by JPSS from 30 to 20 seconds at 174c and a teflon sheet over the top of the tee and plate and got a good print.
Only problem I have is that when the press hits pressing temp it will automatically countdown so I added 2 seconds to the time in order for me to swing the press over the tee and print it.
Idle temp is a bit dodgy as the temp seems to rise when it should revert back to the idle temp which was set at 350f, pressing temp was set at 374f, all in all, when i get used to it and the settings are right, looking forward to getting a lot more prints out of the combi press!
Next stage is another printer for sublimation printing onto mugs.

Re: New start-up
When you get your sub printer set up i have some iphone 5s cases and some felt backed coasters I no longer want if you to practise on them. If interested pm me and ill count how many I have and a price. I need rid of them
Re: New start-up
Hi Jonna, no problem will do, just looking at the costs of the inks....very expensive!!
Re: New start-up
I dont have a sub set up but have heard the ink goes a long way and lasts a long time
Re: New start-up
Hi Jonna
Yup the ink sets do go a long way, I can print over 1000 mugs with the first set of carts which is a huge mark up.

Re: New start-up
Well I have took the plunge and will be buying the Ricoh SG 3110DN with sub inks from Isub Supplies, hopefully get this next week!
On another note, the press that I bought 5 in 1 combi has a faulty temp regulator, temp keeps on rising after initial pressing when it should revert back to its idle temperature, all is not lost, new control unit arriving next week so all should be good to go.
