Epsons are nice and reliable - heads never really fail. Inks are stupidly expensive and when they do break down.... they break down and its a big cost. HPs on the other hand - heads fail regularly but are pretty much disposable with some of the heads for the smaller HPs I have cost maybe £10 for a new head. It's much of a muchness really. HPs are really cheap and easy to fix, but they do tend to fall over a bit. Epsons are more expensive initially but are complete workhorses. The z2100 I have is nice, fast and really good colour reproduction with 8 inks BUT getting those inks is the kicker unless you want to spend £50-60 per colour per 130ml cart. Mind you the 12 colour Epson I used to use cost £200 per 350ml ink cart.
Someone seen you coming the RRP forthe 700ml inks for the 9900 were only ever 230quid as a reseller im lucky to get 180

Tell me about it I had a 6 month contract at a local University , I pointed out that they were paying through the nose for products and i could get them 20% cheaper, but youre not on the list they said and the list is closed, but we know we get a good deal because theyre on the list !!! Mentality in universities is crazy now students pay 9K a term they dont seem to care.

Don't know of your still looking but I've just bought a Canon IPF5100 A2 / 17" printer for use with pigment inks. (Fine Art and Photo reproduction) They have just come down in price from 3.400 to 799 + vat and come with ink. check it out on the Canon site and then follow the dealer links. It's 12 colour will take single sheet, multiple sheets and also has a roll feed.
Couldn't resist it at that price.

Was going to ask the same, Im thinking of parting with my canon ipf6400 A1 printer. Very simple to use, Ink its pretty cheap in relation to the others! and you can get refillable tanks for it.
