Well thanks to the help on here I got this running at last. All I need now is a profile. The colours aren't too bad but I like to get things spot on. I prefer to be the critic rather than the customer!
Thanks again,
Ray

Re: Brother MFC-6520DW
I've been using the 6510dw brothers for years. Basically the same unit.
Here's how I solve the problem on all my Brother MFCs.
You set the little plastic trip thing so it fools the switch, then hold it in place with a screw.
Has no effect on removing or replacing cartridges..

Re: Brother MFC-6520DW
I should add that I use Dye Sub inks for Epson and because the Brother nozzles are big enough to drive a truck through I can leave the printers idle while I'm away for 3 or 4 weeks and when I come back they print a perfect nozzle check. I do get blockages on the one I use for pigments though.
But you must ALWAYS leave the Brother turned on 24/7. Never turn it off for any length of time unless to transport it somewhere.

Re: Brother MFC-6520DW
The Brother is VERY frugal with the amount of ink it uses. I am amazed how little is costs to run I have one Brother 6510DW running Pigment ink, one 6510DW running Dye Sub ink and one 6520DW running ordinary Dye ink printing on canvas. Apart from paper feed issues with the canvas prints because the 6520 works a bit differently, I find the things are brilliant. And I can leave the Dye Sub printer for a month or so when I am away in any kind of weather, and come back to a perfect nozzle check. No way I'm going back to Epson or any other brand.
The 6510 printers are now over 3 years old. At $200 each if I got a problem even after 3 months I could simply throw one away and buy another. Only needed to sell 15 items to pay for one printer and materials cost. After that everything was profit.
Yesterday I printed 10 items on the new 6520DW. Cost including ink and blanks $12.50 Sold for $25.00 each. Profit from one job $237.50. Time including graphics design, printing and finishing up 1 hour 30 minutes.
New Brother MFC-J6520DW bought on Saturday cost me $248.00. I need to sell just one more item this week and it has paid for itself!
