last time i checked it had option for color management but it didnt work at all!
sorry to say James but i can agree with you. GIMP is nowhere near as good as adobe product so i cant say is better. is not even close. if is better , why they trying to copy it so much?
I'm sure it will be great use for for stuff like cropping and other image manipulation but for more advance use photoshop is the choice of professionals.
is much nicer organised. gui look better and is more user friendly in general. Also filter algorithms works like a charms.
I can agree with saying that GIMP is best of all "photoshop wannabe" open source software.

Well we are all entitled to our opinons, but for me GIMP is better than photoshop, but if you want to pay out megabucks and use photoshop, then that is fine.
Oh yes I do also have the latest edition of Photoshop, no not the cloud version, and must admit it only cost me £15.00 straight from Adobe, but then I know how to get a lot of legal software cheaply direct from the manufacturers!

Gimp is awesome. YouTube has 12 year olds doing tutorials that really speed up learning on it!!! It kind of clicks at some point. I prefer to other programme's.

I thought Adobe had so many copyrights and patents on what they've developed for Photoshop over the past 27 years that other software didn't really have a chance of touching them.

I've had a look round for a comparitive review of PS and Gimp from the past 12 months
I found this one:
https://www.wikivs.com/wiki/GIMP_vs_Photoshop
Which basically is saying that PS is better but Gimp is cheaper

That is the defining factor pisquee. Because Gimp is free it has thousands of tutorials to get your head around. From simple to complex. PS is an awesome tool but I use Gimp so the basics are better for me. You'll also find that people that paid for a product will say its better than free alternative. A little like Android v Apple os. Android advanced quicker as it was more available. Its now a much better platform for me. But that is my opinion

Its about what you think is best.
