Why would you think they both use the same Chinese stuff? It is quite a big place.

they all scratch when you try lol. coating is quite soft once hot so easier for scratches.
If you want more "english" mugs then Listawood. I think they coat they own mugs here in UK. Also i dont think there is better customer service. Any time I email them (Benjamin) I get replies almost instantly. so give them a go too. i would ask for samples. some suppliers will be able to send you couple for free. Also ask for one blank and one printed, so you can see how they do that.

I have used 1000's of CG mugs...never a problem. Doesn't mean you didn't have a duff batch though.

Although both CG and BMS source out of China, this doesn't mean their products are from the same factories. Although some of them might be, their mugs are definitely different.

I believe BMS RN mugs come from thailand not china, having used both CG and BMS 11oz mugs I prefer BMS. CG are priced more competitively, weigh a little less (smaller handle) and have next to no taper at the bottom. Where as BMS do have a taper at the bottom but i've never had a pin hole in one, i've had quite a few with them from CG and 99% of the mugs from BMS have been usable straight out the box (no breakages, bubbles in coating, black dots in the coating). Sadly there always seems to be one or two in a box from CG that have some kind of anomaly, but considering how well priced CG mugs are you might be willing to over look there faults. I have found that if you do a full top to bottom print CG mugs show ware on the rim and base earlier than I would like and BMS mugs aren't developing this ware as yet so this is currently my main reason for using BMS mugs.

I have been through many many suppliers and will only use BMS. If BMS are out of stock.... its pretty much of a muchness but first and last my choice is always BMS for mugs. Other suppliers have delivered substandard mugs, broken mugs, chipped mugs, pinholes, crap packaging - every variety of fault and even one that exploded (do not ask me how... for the life of me I do not know) that fragmented so explosively that it cut the heatblanket so badly it was unusable after that mug and left the base of the mug twelve feed away (not a joke, and still leaves me pulling the press tight a bit trepidaciously in case of a repeat).

I have tried other suppliers of mugs, and come back to Coralgraph every time. The last time I went to someone else, cost me over a grand in lost sales, and compensating/replacing customers who bought so called dishwasher proof mugs which turned out not to be the case!

Coaralgraph now and only Coralgraph!!!
