No idea, but it certainly does great work on all the stuff made for Coraldraw and photshop, and it is FREE!

gimp is raster software so wouldn't do the paths and other vector graphics. it may open them but as a raster.

I'm a huge CDraw fan, always have been. I do use Illustrator and I'm forcing myself to learn more and more but pretty much only use it for laying out prints prior to processing.

I know a lot of Adobe fans aren't keen on CDraw but I really can't fault it

I think both camps get a bit protective of their prefered software. Both are very capable. It would be interesting to have a common set task and see how that task is accomplished in each programme. When I get time I'll do a video on say Powerclip in CD to get the ball rolling.
I looked at Gimp and Signlab uses it for bitmap editing and you can't argue with FREE

I used both. CorelDraw and illustrator. Im quite fluent with photoshop so i thought i give illustrator a go.
I must admit corelDraw worked much nicer for me. Easier.
In illustrator i wanted to do stuff like i would in photoshop and it just didn't work!
So you just simply need to learn illustrator and you will find it very powerful. but corel is more friendly i think.

but... There is no corelDraw for mac! Illustrator is

Gimp will do all that Coraldraw and photoshop will do and more. Just because it is free, doesn't mean it is no good!

James I'm not sure that is completely true, as I understand it Gimp is a bitmap editing programme and does not have the vector/drawing tools that Draw or Illustrator has. Please correct me if I am wrong.
You are completely right in as much as just because it is free it is no good, there are some brilliant programmes out there either free or not much money. Also take a look at Inkscape

Gimp has come a long way since it was first introduced, and yes it can do vector. It may not have the same tools as Draw or Illustrator, but it is up there and supasses, some would say, Draw, Illustrator, photoshop etc.
