Hi all...new to this forum and new to dye sublimation printing. I am looking for advice on the Epson WF3010 printer as a starter printer. Any comments or suggestions on this printer. I am looking to start of with mugs/mousemats/coasters/lanyards etc as I already do a lot of heat press vinyl garments already.

I like this printer, as a basic printer, but it's a pain if you want to use it on a network, as there is no control panel to set network settings on the printer itself, so you have to USB it to change any settings.
I like that it's a work force, so better than a standard home printer, has a proper paper feed tray and waste tank, but don't like that the cartridges are small, unlike the workforce pros which have the 100ml carts available.
We use ours as a small office printer though, rather than sublimation, mainly for when we're exhibiting at trade shows so we can print off order forms, invoices, price lists etc.

It will be fine for sublimation work, as long as you have the appropriate ICC profile for the ink you are putting in it. Don't believe any seller who tells you taht you don't need one. If they can't supply one, then look for an ink seller who can, or at least one that is honest enough to tell you that he can't supply one, but you will need to get one made.
Member Paul here is the guy to go to for custom ICC profiling.

Reason we don't use this printer for sublimation is that we have proper big printers for sublimation work (44" wide) Apart from the network setup issue, which as you say isn't a biggie, is that you can only get small refill carts, rather than the big ones that the WorkForcePros have, so you will find yourself refilling the carts often, which is a pain. IF I was wanting to buy a small printer for sublimation work, then I would go with a WorkForcePro so I didn't have to refill the carts so often.
Avoid CISS systems!
