I have gone through LOADS of mugs with very mixed results; I couldn't get two right, one after the other
Change this, change that, change the other, I settled on Windows 7, an Epson L355 printer and local inks and paper from a trusted supplier. STILL no luck and I was printing essentially a black design with a touch of red. I was going to throw the mug press out the window when the techie finally paid me a visit and immediately said "there is too much ink coming from your printer". The ink/paper/mug supplier does not have an ICC profile to supply me with, so I set about running through all the stages of preparing the printer with them online. Still nada..
So...as I was forced to use Windows (much prefer OSX, sorry guys..), and saw on the Windows printer setup under "advanced", that I could control the density of ink, I set this to -25 for all three colours and lo and behold, some 60 mugs later, success!
180 secs at 170 degrees C regardless of timer, having preheated the mug slightly, preheated the paper, mug opening facing out towards me and then after pressing and removing the paper, I stand it upside down on a wooden surface to cool, away from any draughts.
It all sounds very weird - even eccentric - but at least it works now. Life is tough in the tropics!
What an uphill learning curve!
On the other hand, I print Chromaluxe sheets with OSX, a Ricoh SG7100DN printer, Sawgrass inks, Beaver Paper and NEVER had a problem!
Happy New Year to all, and continued success in all your ventures.
