Hi Guys
Does anyone know if there is any difference between Epson Sawgrass ink and Ricoh Sawgrass Ink (or inktec or another leading brand for that matter).
I know there is a difference in the cartridges but am wondering if there is any difference between the actual inks.

Re: Ink
As far as I know, the Ricoh inks are different to Epson inks. Something to do with the Ricoh using gel inks, so they are formulated slightly different by Sawgrass. This is only something I remember reading somewhere though, so am open to correction.
Re: Ink
I think pisquee put his sublimation inks in a Ricoh and the output wasn't good. Can't remember all the details but the post will be in here somewheresocialgiraffe;93554 wrote:Hi Guys

Re: Ink
The Ricoh ink has a higher viscosity which means that if you put epson ink in it, the ink will run out everywhere. If you put high viscosity inks in your epson you run the risk of clogging the heads with the thicker ink.

Re: Ink
My post about my Inktec Sublinova inks in a Ricoh printer were deleted from the forum, so no record of them exists, which isn't exactly helpful to anyone thinking of trying the same thing. But to sum up, unfortunately it didn't work - the inks flowed, but not properly, and the resultant prints were streaky/blotchy to the point of being unusable.
I conducted the experiment to see if there was a difference, or whether it was just Sawgrass marketing. Ironically the reason the post was pulled was due to violation of Sawgrass 'patents', but then the post proved it wasn't possible, so could almsot be seen as being pro-Sawgrass! (I could just of easily conducted the same experiment with Artanium, got the same results, and the post not be pulled.)

Re: Ink
I still have said Ricoh (3350 IIRC) with the refill carts, and the Inkec ink still in it in our store - not had time to do anything with it since the experiment though, no idea if it would still work or not!
