Just a rant about the quality of premium mug blanks.

Picked out 6 mugs unsuitable to give customers, lost about 10 due to inconsistencies in mug diameter causing misprints. Think my time might be better invested in more profitable products. Christmas hasn't even gotten into full swing yet, I'll have a mug mountain. Wonder if the EEC would have any use for it?

Better not say the three companies, but don't they all come out of the same Thai factory?

I had a revelation since the first post and tried a different approach..not to make any adjustments to the press if the pressure feels different. In a little batch of six printed a moment ago, not one of them had the same consistency in shape. Put one in which felt tight and thought, ooh this is going to be smudged...brought it out and it was fine. Next mug, very light pressure compared to previous mug (no change to press) and it was fine too. So the problem is only at the handle most likely and the blanket has enough tolerance for the rest of the mug.

Not that it solves any problems completely, last two out of the press smudged in the same spot. That same spot on the mug has wasted dozens of printed mugs. Different presses, different blankets all manner of pressures.

Six successful mugs with six mis-prints. Only got the very last mug right with a minor 5mm loosening of the clamp.

My biggest annoyance is when the transfer doesn't go round parallel and ends up 5mm higher up the mug, trying to eyeball those to look right is a pain. Premium mugs eh?

So who asset stripped the original Tams factory?

Must admit I never had a problem with Listawoods either, but stock levels is the problem there.
