Re: Anyone managed to get Cyan?

Post by liannef »

Hi
I'm still having problems trying to get good colours, mainly Cyan is the problem as it comes out a dark greeny blue with coloursure on and when off a very pale greeny blue. Can't seem to get a royal blue either, just dark blues that look navy. I've tried printing the RGB palette with and without the coloursure box ticked in power driver and also printed the coloursure palette but the colours aren't all great, I hoped I could at least find some colours that came out nice and create my own palette from these. I pressed them on polyester t-shirts and selected truepix, polyester and saturated in power driver.

I thought power driver was suppose to make the colours come out right? Dusty purple and pale purple come out as browns when coloursure is ticked but a shade of purple when it's not ticked.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm using coreldraw student so don't have colour management so can't see I'm using an icc profile as well. I have windows vista so can't upgrade to the latest power driver.

Any ideas? as if I can't get good basic colours then what's the point as people will just complain.

Thanks
Lianne

Hi Lianne,

Here's a link to the CorelDraw settings for using powerdriver - http://sawgrasseurope.indigofiles.com/t ... -X6_PD.pdf - be worth checking your setup.

I only check the Colorsure box when I'm using the Colorsure palette, not when using the standard Coreldraw palette.

Assuming this is a supported printer and you have it setup correctly the power driver should do everything for you. Who was your supplier?

Hi
Thanks for replying, yes it's a Ricoh 3110 and I got it from TMT. In CorelDraw Student you don't have the default profile section so I can't change the default just the document settings and also when you press print I don't have the print style bit either. Karen when you print Cyan does it come out as Cyan?
Thanks

also noticed some black lines in the purple and blue that I printed today. Did a nozzle check and some black did appear at the bottom of the cyan section so did a clean but didn't make a difference. I haven't used it that much but leave it left on.

don't use an ICC profile as well as PowerDriver. To check the printer is working save the file as a jpg and open in word or picture/fax viewer and print via PowerDriver. If after pressing the colours are still wrong the contact TMT so they can help you sort this out.

Hi
I don't think I'm using an ICC profile as well, how can I check? I've just downloaded a trial version of CorelDraw X6 and changed the settings as per the pdf Karen provided above so going to do some more tests tomorrow to see if it's CorelDraw Student that is the problem. Will also try your suggestion too, thanks

If you have CorelDraw X6 (and not student version) try printing with the PowerDriver, and also with the Sawgrass ICC profile instead.

I am also having this problem with blues on my SG3110 every thing comes out perfect on pictures etc but with blues they always very significantly from the colours shown on screen check is fine, tried printing with and without power-driver and from different software (coral, paintshop etc) double checked the colour doesn't just look different on screen due to contrasts etc by printing on a different printer. If anyone has any ideas I will be glad to hear them.

PS not been on for a while hope everyone is well.

Hi Lianne,
Yes, I can print cyan, though I haven't printed t-shirts

May be others here could comment on times/temps for t-shirts to see if that might help.........
