Advice on using a halogen oven please

Mornin' all,

I have decided, as my mug press is terminally ill, to try the halogen oven route, so I've been and gone and bought one. Would any users of these be kind enough to give me a bit of advice:

1) Should I pre-heat the mugs before wrapping them?

2) Bearing in mind that I don't suppose the oven temperature will drop between emptying and re-loading therefore there's no idle temperature as such. With this in mind they should start
cooking straight away. Will this affect the cooking time - I would think that about 190 for about 15 mins should be a reasonable start.

3) Can mugs be stacked when the extender ring is used?

4) Should the mugs be put on the bottom of the oven, or raised up on a rack?

4) I need some wraps now - any advice regarding suppliers for these? Or has anybody got some they don't use and want to get rid of?

I think that's it - - any words of wisdom would be really appreciated.

When I had my oven I only ever used 4 clamps max.. as when I did try putting extra on top, even with the extender ring, the top ones had definite burnt hot spots close to the element..

I never preheated prior to wrapping them..

Raised off the floor of the oven with the rack..

I had mine at 200 for 15 minutes.. or around 18 mins for 3

Wraps, I tried the screw close ones.. but couldn't get them off and on as fast as the clamp style ones.. so went with those - BMS stock them as do other places lol..

Thanks for that advice Renniwano - just one confusing thing --- "200 for 15 mins....or around 18 mins for 3" Does that mean the fewer the number of mugs in the oven, the longer they should be in?

I bought the oven from Renniwano and what she means is 1 mug 15 mins and 3 mugs 18 mins both at 200. I went down this route as all I ever saw on here was issues with getting the heat presses to press correctly and I have not had one failure due to mechanical issues only human.

Apologies for the confusion lol.. but yes, that's correct a single mug at 15 mins and 3 in together for 18..
