Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
Have you printed a nozzle check since you flushed the printer?
Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
Do you use icc or powerdriver?

I use powerdriver with my ricoh, and the reds aren't brilliant...but they are much better than that. The initial print looks as I would expect...after that...hmm.

Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
We had a customer contact us just before Christmas with poor quality prints coming out. Transpired someone had bought some "Ricoh Sublimation Inks" from a source and whilst told they were sublimation they certainly weren't. Can you confirm all the cartridges in the printer are marked up with SubliJetR on the outside of them? If a head flush has been done then it could point to the magenta cartridge being a problem. Does the image print okay on other products, such as a mug, polyester fabric etc? If so then the inks are okay and the problem must be the substrate.roguechloe;81399 wrote:No new batches, everything has been exactly the same, before i started printing i had to do a head flush and clean on the printer as i had some lines appear, but i dont understand why this would have affected the pressing of it.
yea paul ive tried lower temp aswell, and yes, there was a badge on the original design but i had the same thought as you so i changed it and the new design wont be having a badge on it

Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
I'll try a nozzle check now, and i use icc not powerdriver, i bought the inks from amazon, they dont say sublijet on them but it says they are compatible with the printer, and i have printed some mugs to teat if it was the ink etc and they have come out perfectly, i bought new metal inserts from my ordinary supplier and some from a different supplier and both sets have had same outcome,
Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
There's your problem. You don't have sublimation ink in at least one of your cartridges. If they don't say SubliJetR on the cartridge then they aren't the right inks. I'm sure they are 'compatible with the printer' but that only goes for standard ink.roguechloe;81424 wrote:I'll try a nozzle check now, and i use icc not powerdriver, i bought the inks from amazon, they dont say sublijet on them but it says they are compatible with the printer, and i have printed some mugs to teat if it was the ink etc and they have come out perfectly, i bought new metal inserts from my ordinary supplier and some from a different supplier and both sets have had same outcome,
This could now prove a costly error as you will have to flush out the wrong ink and if you have installed only 1 or 2 ordinary ink cartridges into the printer then you are going to flush away sublimation ink which are in the other tubes.
Don't do any flushing until you have the correct ink cartridges installed.
Depending on what you have installed, and what ink you are now going to flush away, it maybe cheaper to buy a new SG3110DN printer - if you need inks as well then a new printer and ink set might be on the cards - printers will cost around £90-£150 +vat and printers with SubliJetR ink sets are available from £250-£300 +vat (depending where you source them).
Warranty support on printers when using SubliJetR inks are only available from Sawgrass dealers as proof of purchase from a Sawgrass dealer will need to be evidenced if the case if warranty support on the printer itself.
Sorry this probably isn't what you want to hear, but buying inks from Amazon as they are 'compatible' isn't the same as buying sublimation inks from a Sawgrass dealer. Yes cheaper, but only because it isn't sublimation inks and clearly much more expensive now
The reason why it worked when you first put them in was that in the Ricoh printers the inks are in tubes and when replacing cartridges the old ink is still in the tubes until the new inks replace it. Hence, I believe you problems started once the new inks replaced the old (after the head flush you did).

Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
Is this why the mugs would have worked, as the colours i used on the mugs were just pale colours like yellow and light blue, they looked similar to what was on the computer but not exactly the same

Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
And could anybody recommend a sublimation printer that is good quality where the ink is maybe abit cheaper, ive seen an epson but i dont really trust them much, or is the ricoh the best sub printer out there? Thankyou everyone for all your help
Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
Depends really. Which cartridge isn't SubliJetR in the printer? It may have been using the inks in the tubes before they are replaced with the other inks.roguechloe;81426 wrote:Is this why the mugs would have worked, as the colours i used on the mugs were just pale colours like yellow and light blue, they looked similar to what was on the computer but not exactly the same
As for a different printer, the SG3110 is about your best bet for ease of use, reliability etc - just remember never to buy inks cheap off Amazon in the future.

Re: Iphone case, issue with pressing the inserts
All of them are cheap ones, ive not done loads of printing since ive had them and the colours on the mug werent bold, they were all pale and mixes of each colour i think so i think from wat youve said there must have still been some geuine ink
lingering in there. I have found an sg2100n, and the inks are about £25 to replace which is much better, and the printer itself is about £60, it says it uses geljet. Is this a good choice??
