Printing onto sublimation paper for clothing.

Couple of years ago I used to print onto subli tees and used a paper from an eBay seller (Funkyleopard) who still exists but no longer sells sublimation paper. Although I still have some paper in stock, obviously at some stage I will need to find another supplier.

Looking around, some papers specifically state they not suitable for garments. Reading the 'blurb' for Tru Pix paper it states the benefit as being 6 and 7 colour printers deposit more ink on the paper. So here is my question, for those of us with four colour printers is Tru Pix paper of any real benefit? One thing I have never really thought of, is if it is possible to deposit more ink on the paper using higher print settings photo/best photo etc, or do these higher settings just put down a finer jet pattern rather than deposit more ink on the paper?

I am curious as to whether any of the folks on here have ever experimented down that route and what the results were.

I use trupix for everything.
Ricoh printer
Sawgrass inks
Powerdriver set to relevant application.

It will depend on your set up though.

In the print driver, the amount of ink laid down is determined by the paper/media type you select

It's not only the amount of ink but the release of ink off the paper as well. TruPix is an excellent all round paper and there may be a comparable paper about to become available which will be cheaper but just as good.

Tried a really cheap paper from ebay, was awful even look bad for a paper it would curl up on its own. Also tried a middle range one which was ok but didnt give the same crystal clear print TruPix achieves.

Thanks for your input folks. I know some of the cheaper paper can perform very well, but by the same token there is some very poor papers out there. Just a shame my previous supplier is no longer selling subli paper. :frown:
