Re: My printer has arrived!
If you are going to be paying that price then buy the 6510 model instead for the A3 scanner as I think it is the same price from Viking at the moment

Brother's own links for the manuals. Not sure about LCD language, I cannot find any information on the language settings and it may be market specific.
For those that already own a 5910 here is a link for the latest firmware (again I do not know whether upgrading the firmware would change the language - so I am not advising it for this purpose)

Re: My printer has arrived!
If you send me a copy of the German Instructions I will translate it for you as I speak fluent German. If you see on the printer display a word that looks like "Spracheinstellung", press on that and then press on "Englisch" when you find it and then you should have it all in English.
So, just a quick option you could try.
1. Press on "Einstellung"
2. Press on "Spracheinstellung" or "Sprachauswahl"
3. Click through until you see "Englisch"...
4. bingo!... hopefully.
Like I said, If you can send me a copy of the instructions I can post a detailed account of the set up here.

To view links or images in signatures your Beer count must be 10 pints or greater. You have currently drunk 15 pints!.
Re: My printer has arrived!
Would not have thought that they would do language specific units.
Normally you can change language after installing software as the brother printer i have has differant language manuals so that would mean they are not language specific. Will have a look and see if tou can change language on display from printer itself.

Re: My printer has arrived!
yeah this is also true. Defo dont think they do language specific. That in my opinion would be stupid.
Re: My printer has arrived!
Decided in the end to send it back and get one from a different supplier in the UK. Couldn't be doing with all the faffing about, and nagging from the other half! New one arrives today.
Thanks for all your valid comments. It's great to know that you are all out there to help extreme novices like me.

Re: My printer has arrived!
Hello again. Just for your information, I had a reply from Brother about this language problem and this is the reply I got.
Thanks for your email.
Unfortunately the pre-programmed LCD language is region specific so if the machine was purchased in Germany, the language will be fixed to that.
Kind regards,

So, I'm glad I decided to return it and get another, which, by the way, has arrived

Re: My printer has arrived!
In this day and age it does seem strange that they are manufactured with a local language and not universally adjustable.
