Re: First day at Dye Sub !
By way of introduction, we are located in Carlow, Ireland , about 50 miles SW of Dublin and operate a picture framing business along with photo processing & printing. This business is just 3 years on the go and while I have some experience from 10 years ago in printing T Shirts and other objects ( laser printer ) , I am now new to the Dye sub process.
I saw the end result of dye sub alongside examples of previous work via laser / heatpress and was truly impressed with the vibrancy of the colour achievable with the dye sub process. We have just recently acquired a Rioch Dye sub printer / swing hotpress and a mug press so Ive started to try to get to grips with it all this week.
I printed a few mouse mats and coasters yesterday and was happy with the results achieved. Today , I printed about 12 mugs with varying results....from good to poor..........so for the past few hours Ive been trawling through some of the posts on this great forum and have a full page of notes taken with pointers .............for experimentation and fine tuning when I go at it again on Monday.
So looking forward to the challenge and thanks to all who have posted their issues and solutions on this forum............it truly is a great resource and should prove very helpful to those starting out. Hopefully, in time , I will be able to help out and contribute also.
Many Thanks
Tom
