Staying silent when you've had a bad experience is no help to the community. What's your first priority? Helping others in the community, or protecting the interests of a poor supplier?

I'm not trying to start an argument, just playing devil's advocate. Whether you have anything to say, good or bad, it should be said because both types of experiences help others here make an educated decision. Remaining silent just allows a poor supplier sell more dodgy products by duping unwary purchasers.

To use this current example - I've never bought from Lovecut. If everyone who'd had a bad experience stayed silent on the subject, I might have spent money with them - only to find it was money wasted. I would be well cheesed off if everyone else here at the DSF knew about them but chose to keep quiet on the subject.

Protecting the interests of a poor supplier is no way to help others.

Smitch did say it though on this occasion....... nothing nice to say about Lovecut. Might not have put the boot in on specifics but that would make me realise they have let him down previously.

"nothing nice to say" may imply that there's something bad to say but, unless it's explicitly stated what was bad, people can't make a judgement.

For instance, I have nothing nice to say about Lovecut either. I also have nothing bad to say about them, because I've had no dealings with them. Me saying "nothing nice to say" is completely different to someone else who's had a bad experience saying the same thing.

Nothing nice to say only means one thing to me.......... he had a bad experience and Steve let us know. We can creat double meaning in most things people say if we wanted.

It's very difficult asking opinions on Suppliers. We did toy with the idea of having a ratings scheme on here for Suppliers to be marked according to the service provided. It's the age old problem though, most folk complain when something goes wrong but often don't mention the times it goes right.

Everyone has different often conflicting experiences with suppliers and it's quite unusual to see so many poor comments over one particular supplier which I guess answers the initial question here!

But smitch didn't just say "I have nothing nice to say about them", he said "if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything". There is no double-meaning there, simply his advice to say nothing unless you can say something nice. That's what I was posting about because I didn't and still don't feel that it's beneficial to the DSF community to stay silent when you've had a bad experience with a supplier.

This is the kind of thread that Polls were made for! I can see how useful a question like 'Would you buy from Lovecut?' and poll answers of yes,no,maybe would be!
If a jobs worth doing it has to be Worth Doing Right

But with polls they can get biased and not get what they set out to achieve. Maybe an encentive some how to get posts done for the good experiences rather than the bad.
