I have now purchased my heat press, my mugs are selling slowly but I was wondering what you guys recommend I should next start subbing?
also Bms do you do a test package of maybe 1 or 2 of your best sublimation sellers so I can purchase and see what sells to my customers. Eg, mouse mats , Samsung and iPhone covers, plaques etc etc.
thanks

bit of a difficult one dave firstly i doubt you would get a very accurate answer off anyone after all if you find a best seller it'd be counter productive to let your competition in on it which lets face it we are all competeing here, also what sells well for me might not sell well for you i might have a certain way of marketing my products which may be total differnt to your marketing stratergy. What you need to do is find your niche and then find how to market it for example we had a certain product which i sold one or two of in a blue moon (sorry not saying what) i was ready to give up on this product my wife then came up with a design this product now is one of our best sellers. its finding that product and the design to go with it thats the trick. Think of your own knowladge and build on that ie you might be a huge golf fan therefore you would know people and clubs groups etc who are golf related so itd be prudent to come up with some original golf designs and use your knowladge and contacts to market these items like selling to your local clubs shop its suprising how quick these things can take off.
in summary to begin with
stick to what you know
use your contacts
use your knowladge of the subject
try and be original

hope all that helps

You'd be better off asking in the BMS section or PM'g them with that question, just in case they don't read this thread...but I would think they will :-)

Hi Dave

I think that is an impossible question to answer as everyone is different and where and how you sell your items will have an effect on what is popular or not. Where do you currently sell your items and what is printed on them?

I currently sell mugs through word of mouth, I have a Facebook page and website but agree its who you know thats best, I have been asked for mouse mats and I think iPhone cases would sell too, not looking to take over the market just yet but looking for items that the general public would be interested in as one offs,
as for personal interest I'm into boats and fishing and I'm slowly creeping into that market, thanks.

We do a starter package (search for the word starter in our search box at www.printerowners.co.uk). Alternatively we sell items individually so unlike some other suppliers where you have to buy 10 at a time or box quantities you can create your own custom list of individual items that you'd like to try.

I must admit that I am a little confused here. The purpose of dye sublimation, or any digital process, is that you do not need masses of printed stock. You could easily purchase every single item that BMS (or any other retailer) sell and put them on your facebook page or website to sell. You do not need loads of stock as you simply order it when you need it. Most online sellers of blank items will dispatch the same day so you get it the following and send out the same day also (or even the next if its a sideline business you have). Obviously this will work out quite an expensive way of doing things because you have to pay for delivery, however if you order say five of everything you think you want to sell and then simply replenish each week it will work out pretty cheaply.

Perhaps you could build interest by posting on facebook "items coming soon" and then judge from the interest/likes that each item is generating what will be your bigger sellers.

If you find at a later date that you have stock of something that you just can not sell, you can either post in the FOR SALE section, or use them to create promo gifts for you to give to regular customers to build interest.

One last thing you could consider, I note that you are into boats and fishing. Have you thought about the polymer plastic mug? I used to have a boat and made a few for my "floating money pit" with a picture and name of my boat on there. Had quite a few other boat owners in the marina ask me for some for their boats.

Hope the above helps :-)
