GXe3300N problems
Re: GXe3300N problems
Ok, here goes,
I'm new to sublimation (and the forum - hello!) and have just bought a basic sub-print set up. A GXe3300N printer, flat bed press and CorelDRAW 6. I installed the original printer driver, then installed the Sawgrass powerdriver, I configured the settings in CorelDRAW and on the face of it all seems to be working well. Trouble is when I create a template in CorelDRAW the printer won't print it to size.
I've been designing phone covers and my template should be 65 x 125mm. I create this in CorelDRAW and import my design, I then go to Print Preview and check I have the correct size paper (iphone paper) and I check the image will print in the centre, and it then shows me my design centered within the page, but when I print off the image the actual print is in one corner of the paper and it measures a few mm short which in turn makes the positioning of the case very fiddly.
I uninstalled everything and used the Sawgrass cleaner to wipe everything, then reinstalled CorelDRAW and both the printer drivers hoping this would cure the problem, but to my annoyance it didn't. I'm not sure where the problem lies. Is it the printer or CorelDRAW or the powerdriver. Is something overriding the settings?
I'm really stuck and have no idea what to do next.
Thanks
LJ

Re: GXe3300N problems
Hi there
it sounds like a settings problem within Coreldraw.
First thing to do is the following:
Open Coreldraw and create a new document (make sure the page size of the document is A4). Draw a box of any size but for example lets say 100mm x 100mm. Either fill the box with a colour or make sure the outline is thick enough to print.
Try printing this box to your Ricoh without any other settings. So select your Ricoh printer, click on settings to make sure that says A4, then go through all the tabs to make sure that it is centered on the page and no page scaling etc has been selected. Applying the Ricoh profile is not relevant at this stage.
If that prints perfectly then I would say that possibly there is something wrong with your "SUBLI PRINT" print settings.
If however it does not print okay then it is possibly to do with the Printer's settings which can be changed under your control panel (assuming you are using Windows).
If you do have another printer to hand, you can always print the iphone case to that printer to see what happens.
Hopefully the above helps, but if not report back on what happened when you tried the above and hopefully someone should be able to help (possibly not me as I do not use V6 of Corel and not sure how different it is to V3).
Good luck

Re: GXe3300N problems
I wonder if you are confusing your design size with your paper size. I assume you are probably printing to A4 paper and therefore the paper size should be A4 and then when you print your case design centered it should print fine. If however you have set your paper size to the design size then it will, if centered be expecting to be printed on a small 65 x 125 mm piece of paper which will be on the corner of the A4 sheet. It may also be scaling the image to allow for an imaginary border on the 65 x 125mm paper. So you should check that the printer paper size is A4 and image centered and see if it prints size for size mid sheet.ljmatth;49946 wrote:Check I have the correct size paper (iphone paper) and I check the image will print in the centre, and it then shows me my design centered within the page, but when I print off the image the actual print is in one corner of the paper and it measures a few mm short which in turn makes the positioning of the case very fiddly
Re: GXe3300N problems
Thank you for the fast replies, I shall try your suggestions.
Re; the paper size, I entered a custom size which was special iphone paper 90 x 140mm. If I printed it on A4 and selected A4 in the paper size the design image does appear a lot smaller in print preview and is centered and as soon as I select my custom size the image changes again in proportion to the paper size. I will follow your suggestions and get back to you.
thanks again

Re: GXe3300N problems
Have you printed the image with A4 paper size selected in the printer properties? Do not select custom size. Reading your second post I suspect that if you do it will print perfectly in the centre of an A4 sheet.

Re: GXe3300N problems
I just printed out a square on A4 paper using the original printer drive and it came out perfect and centered. But I wanted to use the pre cut iphone paper when printing the phone cases not A4.

Re: GXe3300N problems
What is the pre cut iphone paper? Have you purchased this from somewhere or have you simply cut up some sheets yourself?

Re: GXe3300N problems
you need to change the size of the paper you are designing on in Corel to the size of your iphone paper.
