Re: Ricoh or Epson?
I use my subli printer about once a week. Usually for birthday mugs. My main business is Embroidery , DTG and printing using plotted vinyl. Very little subli work until around christmas. Im getting a little frustrated with my Epson 1400 with bulk ink system because just when I need it , its needs at least an hour of serious cleaning. Yesterday was a good example. Im embroidering 100 Jackets for a hospital and I have to print one mug. Then come the phone calls, "Is my mug ready yet?" So now I loose an hour and clean the Epson.
The reason for this post is ; If I buy a Ricoh A4 printer, will I have the same problem? No bulk system, just the gel cartridge.
Anybody with experience of this? As I said, I will use the printer about once a week , except xmas time.
Another question . Which is the latest Ricoh A4 printer?
Thanks
Earl.

Re: Ricoh or Epson?
Hi Earl,
Most CISS systems are a bit tempremental to say the least and definately you would do better with a printer with cartridges if you were to print infrequently. The latest A4 model is the Ricoh SG3110DN which replaces the GXe3300. Another potential course would be to buy a Brother printer and refillable cartridges which tend to be a lot less troublesome than CISS.
But if it is simpleness and consistancy you are after than I think Ricoh is a better bet than Epson and CISS.

I wouldn't go back to an Epson, spent more time fixing it than using it even during busy times, not familiar with the Brother yet but I am quite happy with my Ricoh.

Re: Ricoh or Epson?
Longest i had my two Epson D88`s was 18mths and 2yrs, so am a Epson lover to be honest.
Now my issue would be the CISS systems, never had any luck with them, always seemed to wast more ink cleaning the heads than what i used that day, and using sub in in them isn't cheap.
Now that my last D88 just died, i have just got a new Epson B1100 and refillable cartridges, as they work better.
So ditch any thought of using a CISS with sub inks and go the refillable cartridges way, my personal view only.

Re: Ricoh or Epson?
My Ricoh can go weeks without being used.
Have never had to clear a blockage.
I was so frustrated (being polite there) with the Epson R1800 that I had before it that I just binned it.

Ricoh for me.....I bought a 7700 from Martin at BMS and touch wood(just about to fire it up after about 10 days non use) it's brilliant. Powerdriver that comes with it is excellent.

Re: Ricoh or Epson?
Just to say thanks for the tips and to let you know that I have bought a basic Ricoh printer, the 2600. Came yesterday , set it up and it prints amazingly fast and super good prints. I didnt buy the 3110 as I couldnt afford it.
Re: Ricoh or Epson?
Is that printer suitable for subli printing? Can't see any sublijetR carts available for it.
