Well it was the extra cost that the guy from TP cited during the discussion. But perhaps it was really something else, given that most who responded said they accepted the extra fee that BMS charge for the sake of convenience - so, really, the extra fee is a non-issue and certainly not one that would prevent the TP from taking PayPal payment. Must be something else that's holding them back.bassqee;45005 wrote:to be honest paypal fees are on par with credit card terminals, by the time you pay the monthly fee and rental of the machine along with the charges your paying similar to what you would with paypal. Plus paypals % comes down too if you do enough business a month.

Re: credit card details
How times have changed. Not so long ago people were afraid of using their cards online and would prefer to phone up with their card details.bigj2552;44978 wrote:dunno about you guys but, i,m not to happy giving some person all my details over the phone.....how do i know its not the bloody cleaner ffs ?????
Never used The Transfer Press (although they do do some nice stuff I would like to try), but many of our customers prefer to call us to pay over the phone rather than use PayPal on our website, so there are arguments for both sides of the story. I have no problem giving me details over the phone, but waiting for the phone call is really annoying and I much prefer to just order and pay online where I can.
Re: credit card details
I got the solution to this anyhoo...
Gonna get a "pre-paid" credit card just for companys that dont have online payment facilitys....
That way my bank details are safe but, i can still purchase from them using the card without worrying about some bugger nicking my details.....only put in what you are spending at the time.....simples !

Re: credit card details
I guess it comes down to who do you trust the most? Some complete stranger on the end of an unencrypted telephone line that could be intercepted by anyone, or an encrypted connection between two computers.easiprint;45103 wrote:many of our customers prefer to call us to pay over the phone rather than use PayPal on our website, so there are arguments for both sides of the story. I know some people who are hesitant to send their details over an encrypted Internet connection but don't think twice about giving their details to some complete stranger over the telephone. Yes, two of them have had their details misused leading to frantic phone calls to the bank to get their cards cancelled and reissued - both times traced back to details given over the telephone. Yet they still feel that it's "safer" to hand details to a "real person" than to a computer. Strange world.
Re: credit card details
That's a good idea but it still leads to the issue of getting money out of Paypal and onto the card before it can be spent on stock.bigj2552;45105 wrote:I got the solution to this anyhoo...

Let me know which pre-paid card you go for, as I'm interested in this.

Re: credit card details
We use Transfer Press regularly, as one of our main lines is only available from them. They have our credit card on file, so we just order on the website, and select for it to be paid to that card. Not had any problems with this, except once where there wasn't enough credit on the card, so they phoned and we gave them a different card, other than that, everything is automatic, and ordered like a website that takes your card details. We've talked to them and ordered over the phone a few times too. Can't fault them in any way.
Re: credit card details
I have that, too, but it's not what Bigj is talking about. He's talking about a debit-type cash card. You can only spend what you put on it, so if someone nicks your details they can only pinch what's on it - there's no additional supply that they can tap into like with a credit card or the PayPal card. It's much safer that way when dealing with an unknown person or using your details over an insecure telephone line.Paul;45114 wrote:I already got it

Re: credit card details
credit cards have fraud protection - much easier to get your money back than debit card.
Re: credit card details
Isn't that only if the value of the order is over £100? Or am I misunderstanding section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act?bassqee;45128 wrote:credit cards have fraud protection - much easier to get your money back than debit card.
