RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
Re: RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
There's guy on eBay selling the Ricoh GXe3350n gel printer for £59 + P&P.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRINTER-SUBLI ... 3871275774
Now he says these have subseded the GXe3330, but I've heard from someone recently (but cannot for the life of me remember who it was) and they said the 3350 is NO good for dye sublimination printing, yet the eBay listing says they are.
Anyone got any ideas on this, as he has loads and they are really cheap, even compared to the 3330 (but then they would be lol if they are no use for dye sub.)

The important question would be can you get suitable ink for it, either in pre-made cartridges, or refillable carts and suitable separate ink.

I would have thought the 3300 sub ink carts would fit - its basically the same machine, whether you would be able to use powerdriver is another matter though - you may have to use a profile courtesy of Paul ofathe forum

The only difference between the 3300 and 3350 is the 3350 has more memory, they both use the same carts. We have one of each, only downfall is sawgrass dont recognise the 3350 for support etc so there is no powerdriver but the icc profile for 3300 works with it.
Just make sure if you do buy one it hasnt had normal gel carts installed previously as there are some on ebay that are ex demo models .

Ok thanks, yes think these on eBay are ex-demo which will mean they've already been run with gel carts. Thanks for the advice, the picture is clearer now!!

Don't forget, you'll still have to fork out around £200 for the sub carts (29ml).

So, all that is needed now is an ink manufacturer to bring out an alternative sublimation ink to Sawgrass for the Ricohs

Re: RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
I've decided to buy one of these (Gx e3350N from one of the ebay sellers above, at £49.99 inc. delivery can't go wrong there). Now I will have an existing GX e3300 and this GX e3350, both just bought. I got the deal from BMS with the 10 sets of spare ink (Ricoh standard ink). My plan is to use one as a normal office day to day printer and one for sublimation. So as the cartridges are the same which do you all think will be best for sublimation?
The supported 3300 with 16MB RAM or the un-supported 3350 with 64MB RAM ?
Surely Sawgrass will eventually support the 3350 won't they? I've read some posts on here about printers stopping half way through print jobs due to memory issues so will the 64MB RAM be the better option. To clarify, I haven't put any ink in my 3300 as yet so I can use either printer for sublimation, any thoughts ?

I'd use the 3300 for sublimation and the 3350 for standard ricoh inks - i've never the powerdriver but it's supposed to make things a hell of a lot easier, + you can print from any program
