I do that. I just photograph it on all three sides (using white paper as the background), and cut&paste them into the same image and email off to the customer with a little note that the printed mug "may look a little different".John G;36753 wrote:print out on paper, stick to mug and take photo.

yeah thats fine but not same effect as it only shows part of the cup
no good if image has text and it goes round the cup as you wont be able to get your message across.
I knocked this one together using the PSD of the actual cup from the link i posted in gfx section.

Re: anyone got a cup psd
paperman = cup
cardman = mug
as a certain 4 legged creature would say simples lol
there was a post on here a while ago with a stretched out mug templeate, showing a handle on the left and right so you could put text across

They are great images and, from a technological standpoint, pretty fantastic that you can do things like that.smitch6;36783 wrote:no as said in my previous post i have the software that you keep going on about

From a practical sense, I have two doubts. The first is that they look computer generated. They don't look "real". The second is that, because they look computer-generated, they give your customer the impression that (i) you've never printed that design on a mug before, and (ii) you're too "cheap" to waste just one mug to print it up and show what it will really look like.
I know that, from a real-world standpoint, the software is more expensive than just printing a mug but it's the impression that the customer receives that's important. If he thinks you've never printed that design on a mug before and that you're not prepared to spend a couple of quid printing up the mug to show what it will really look like, then they may go elsewhere. With the best intentions in the world, that's not what you want.
Does anyone else have the same doubts, or is it just me?
