Re: Roland ecosol max levels.

I have noticed recently the printer is reporting inks at 20% and some even empty and when I pull them out to change them they are at least 60% full.

I also have a cyan cart which is the same weight as a new one which is reporting 0%.
is this some kind of error or am I still supposed to swap them out?

On the other end of the scale though my magenta is reporting almost full yet shaking it feels almost empty.
I never switch this machine off and clean it every 3 days print heads are all perfect no leaks that I can see.

I thought these were supposed to be pretty accurate on the levels.

I had a conversation with the Roland engineer about this and he pointed out that the levels are only a guide and may well have plenty of ink left.

There is a plastic tab that pokes out the bottom left of the cart when it’s actually empty and you can test it by turning the cart on its end to see it pop out.

I left a black Roland cart in and it kept printing and printing and printing until finally it gave an empty cart warning and wouldn’t print.

It makes me sick to think I was throwing out carts worth money with ink in.
So if it feels like there’s ink then there will be ink inside.

lesson learnt.
