Shipping items overseas - Options?

Just wondering what services folk used to ship items overseas?

Sending an individual mug and cushion to USA is an absolutely ridiculous price. We're selling more and more cushions but RM prices just don't make any sense. Just shipped one to Singapore and it cost £16.

UK shipping on these item,s is £3.85 which is enough

Are there any more econimical ways to ship or are people just resorting to UK selling?

I tried shipping a mug to Canada last week and they (rm) wanted £26
Cheapest option anywhere I could find was £23

I ended up cancelling the order and apologising to the customer.
I have removed all international shipping options everywhere that’s bigger than
A large letter.

I am currently using DHL for Europe and RM signed and tracked for RoW as I have found that these are the most reliable.

I thought RM is actually quite cheap compared to others. I sent four items last week (3 to India and 1 to Tunisia) and the total cost was about £100. Weight was 1050 grams per consignment all tracked and traced.

Not helpful if cost is the only factor (thank god my customers are not price driven), but right now these have been the most reliable.

I don’t see anything getting any cheaper anytime soon tbh.

We use RM's International business services (M codes), which are cheaper than their standard rates.
max weight of 2kg, and max size is 90cm (l+w+d) so for cushions, we have to ship them squashed into a 30cm cube box, as if in bags they are too big.

Transglobal is the best bet for small items like tees or mugs, although as Wendy pointed out, prices rose recently. Not enough passenger planes for the parcels to travel on any more.
Up to 25 parcels in a larger box, which then costs £6.95 to pick up. A mug is about £8+ and a tee £4.50 ish.

As an edit, people are using PoD now to produce in each zone so one for UK, one for EU, one for USA. This avoids the postal charges and taxes. Unfortunately, this is the way it's going.

Just shipped our first parcels using Transglobal. Site seems very easy to use, DPD finally found our office today so fingers crossed this should save in the future.

If your not worried about speed dpd have a good price at the moment.

Sent a parcel to my folks in Portugal it was 28kg for £20.
went via parcel2go though.

£19.50 on a NEXT DAY service. I do have a very good rate with them to be fair.


Hopefully once COVID is "under control" then it should start getting cheaper again. One of the big problems is that with no flights there is not much space available meaning it is pushing the cost up for what is around
