Hello all...
Does anyone know of sublimatable dinner plates and/or side plates?
Martin at BMS sells them but they just appear to be for decoration purposes only.
LoveCut also sell them (link - http://www.lovecut.co.uk/36-x-10-plain- ... s-45-p.asp) but again they "come with plastic stands" so I'm guessing for decoration only (I did email them and they replied "The plates will be fine as dinner plates and should ok in the dishwasher and micrwave as they are coated in the same factory as the mugs")
Any advice/experience welcomed.

We're pretty poorly served with plates in this country.
The main reason plates are sold for decorative purposes only is because the items we print have to be coated with a special receptive coating for the ink.
In the instance of a plate, people are going to be chopping away with knives and prodding with forks. You can't be sure that they might not chip away part of the coating and/or ink with their dinner. You don't hack away at the exterior coating on a mug, so it's not good enough to say they're the same as mugs. Best to say they're recommended for commemorative or display purposes only. At the end of the day, the customer will sue you - not your supplier.
Some plates are coated with Orca coating these days, which makes them dishwasher-safe (I don't believe the ones sold by BMS or Lovecut are but you could ask them). I still wouldn't recommend them to eat off, though, for the reasons stated. The non-Orca ones of the old days wouldn't stand up to handwashing, never mind dishwashing - so be sure you try one for yourself before believing a supplier that says "should ok in the dishwasher".
