Pretty easy to make looking at this if you have a stock image.

Re: 20cm MDF Clock - MockUps?
I've knocked up a quick 3D model of a 20cm clock with hands and movement. Here are a couple of rough renderings ...
Instead of rendering a final image, I can also render as a Photoshop PSD document with all the render layers separate which enables me to change face image, background, shading, etc from within Photoshop instead of having to render a new image every time I cjange designs.

that looks great webtrekker, thanks for taking the time to do that. So we could add a red second hand to this and make the clock a little thicker without too much work? Just want it to look as close to the actual product as possible (You know how customers are!)

Yes Justin, it would be no trouble to add a second hand or change the style and dimensions of all the hands to match a particular product. Thickness is also easily altered. I can also change the materials to reflect those actually used and can remove the centre button if a second hand is fitted. Views can be from any camera angle with lighting altered to produce the nicest shadows and highlights.
As said previously, a big plus is being able to produce layered mockups for Photoshop, enabling anyone to easily change face designs and colours or add a different background.

Re: 20cm MDF Clock - MockUps?
While I'm on, and I know I may have posted this before, but a long while ago I coded a web clock to display IKEA RUSCH clocks that I used to make up with custom faces. The beauty of this was that I could show customers their design on a working clock (it uses the time setting of their computer) ...

This code could easily be adapted to display a raytraced mockup of a 20cm clock, face-on of course, not at an angle as that would require some serious coding.
The clock linked to is a little rough around the edges as it was just copied from internet images and not a raytraced model, but I think you'll see the possibilities.

Here's a clock nearer to the 5mm thickness and with a red second hand. Obviously, the hands could be changed or resized to match the ones you use ...Justin;142515 wrote:that looks great webtrekker, thanks for taking the time to do that. No problem Jason. These were just 10 minute renderings, I'll do some better quality ones and upload them to my server then PM you the links.Justin;142547 wrote:That's great, many thanks for sharing those. Would it be possible to get the .psd file to take a look at please?
