Was glad they came and installed mine for me, had to commandeer another desk.
Desktop, yes, so long as you don't need to put anything else on it!

Hi paul.
My first post but I have been a lurker of this site for a few years now and it has taught me a few decent tips so thought I would try and ask an owner of the bn-20
can I pick your brain a little about this machine?
im really contemplating purchasing one myself for posters, banners and T-shirt prints and stickers.
im a little scared of the costs involved and to be honest I don’t have a clue about these machines other than online videos.
i currently run a graphtec ce6000 machine and would this machine make the graphtec redundant so I could clear space?
I have a million questions

It can do the same job as a cutter yes but width is less at 50cm so rolls not 60cm (if thats what yours is) it cuts up to 480mm. Different ball game to a cutter as there are inks involved, yes they cost £70+ each colour. Uses bleeds for the colour cut lines so you learn Coreldraw or illustrator and do that. BN-20 isn't fast, your cutter is probably quicker and many slate the print speed but it's good quality. You wont want to be in the full time sticker printing business with the speed on offer though. Banners limited to 500 wide, you can buy in banners above that if needed. T shirt vinyl works well if you have a work & print flow going okay but again if your driving a production team above one you need a faster machine.

Probably best to keep the Graphtec. No point wearing out a £5k printer unnecessarily on cutting vinyl.
For a couple of thousand more Mimaki make a wider and faster machine ( 80 or 110cm ) that is more versatile for signs and banners.

Not sure i really want to spend £5k so another couple of £k isn't really a selling point
