Is it a two step process similar to WOW or the Forever laser papers and am I right in thinking you have to get the Reveal Inks?

No one step process self weeding.

If you just wanted to print onto white or light coloured garments then no you don't need the reveal inks they are actually releasing a film specifically for non reveal printers.

However if you want to do the white onto dark, and coloured onto dark then yes you need the Reveal inks as it uses the clear sublimation ink.

So I have just seen the video and my immediate reaction is "goodbye DTG". it really has blown me away.

These days with sublimation and digital printing in general there isn't much left to come up with. White ink has always been one of the holy grail's. I have never been that much into garments as I never thought I could compete with other suppliers in my industry who own machines such as a Kornit (about 40 grand). But this system could potentially put me up against them.

One step printing process, a two step pressing process (press image, peel and then press again) means its very easy and very very quick. Unlike a DTG, you could potentially print 50 odd sheets while doing something else and then 50 garments in white will take you about an hour, possibly one hour and 10 minutes ish. A quick calculation in my head based on rough prices of both this system and the DTG system would suggest about the same unit cost. Materials on REVEAL are more expensive, but labour and speed are considerably quicker.

If anyone has a decent DTG and knows their material costs and times then post them here and we can do a better analysis.

Going to keep my eye on this one as it is a winner.




P.S. Steve, keep the video "RAW" like you have, it is good to see the press count down etc etc as it shows how easy the process is and not some marketing BS video that has been edited.

remind me, sorry, does reveal-s print white? obviously printing onto a white t-shirt is fine, but if we are printing onto light colours does the white still print?

The printperfect system is going to have a few different films that do different things the first one is Reveal-s which let's you sublimate on to white or pastel coloured the second is Reveal-w which let's you put white onto dark cotton the third film let's you sublimate colours onto dark cotton. It looks like there might be also another film reveal-rs which will work with sawgrass or sublisplash ink but it will only work on light coloured cotton because you need the clear ink for the Reveal-w and Reveal-wc.
Hopefully that has made sense and cleared things up for you.

As a DTG printer ourselves, I'm really interested to see how well this works especially how it handles gradients and fades etc.

I've yet to see any paper/film transfer system that comes anywhere near what can be produced with a good DTG printer and RIP. I look forward to the day when there's a viable alternative to DTG as, as everyone knows, DTG printers can send you 'over the edge' with the problems encountered. Having said that, the combination of a good DTG printer & RIP, when working harmoniously can produce jaw dropping stunning prints on t-shirts.
