Music lyrics - where do I get permission?

Hello all,

Do I need permission to quote part of song lyrics on a print? If so does anyone know where I can get permissions/ licenses in the UK?

I'm finding this all a bit of a minefield.

You need permission and licensing if the song is under 90 years old. This page will give you a start. Personally I wouldn't bother unless you are doing a 100,000 print run with £10 profit on each shirt. Contact the publisher of the song not the recording studio or music label. Applies worldwide. Better still write your own.
