Exactly. I wouldn't go with smaller than A0 printer for this job, moneywise. As i said we were using Canon Image Prograf 8100 at the time and that printer was ideal for the job. Much better than the HP printer my friends photographers had. The 8400 model with color reader is the best i think. It was absolutely 100% reliable and inks from UK were 80euro per liter some years ago.
The Hp have separate heads for colors and that could be beneficial, as the Canon heads were around 600 each and when it dies, there is no saving it. But over all printing non stop a couple of years only canvas without a glitch, that i could not say for other printers.

You can eventually save from the size but will loose from the canvas plus the additional jobs that could be lost.

Other eventual solution is go Eco Solvent, as this will be a printer for many different jobs, but forget printing for photographers with it. But you could print on whatever other material there is.

I think all should be decided of the exact need for the final product, buy the best for the money and concentrate on making money.

If you ever decide on second hand, pay a specialist to come with you at the moment of purchase. As each printer has so many own tricks in the sleeve, that could make you cry... At the end of the day a full solution from one place could be a nice idea.

I went down the HP route and bought a 44" HPZ2100, built in spectrophotometer for profiling which makes these printers a bargain.

I can't fault the print, not the quickest but I don't find this an issue.

Only slight issue is the end print needs varnishing as it's not solvent based. I varnish by hand with a gun, again, not a problem but some would find it so.

If I was printing more I would have chosen a different printer/inkset to avoid this.
