Re: CorelDraw - Which Version?

Looking to buy CorelDraw to run through Bootcamp on my Mac. I've always used X4 but won't run on Win10.

Obvious choice is X8 home version, I know this is different to commercial version but never needed this on X4. Are there any features on non commercial I'd need? I see something about cmyk limitations but not printing from Mac.

Other option is subscription but not as cheap.

Hey Justin. I know really nothing about vector based software but having delved into vinyl cutters recently I was told to use Inkscape rather than Corel. Not sure if that helps

I have looked at alternatives over the years but never found anything that comes close to CorelDraw.....I will of course look again though :-)

I don't mind paying for X8 Home, just didn't want to find I have limitations.

Talk to Coreldraw, directly, you can get online assistance usually, I know we did, they should be able to clarify the detail differences better than anyone else. We use x6 official full version, there are free things like inkscape but we found coreldraw being more industry standard and the common denominator in the field. Be interested to hear what you find out

there is a very weak print preview in 'home' - really limits use compared with full.
in terms of which version - there is nothing to split them, - micro tweaks between versions really.
I have 5 full of X6 - and would like to get another, - but can only buy X7 or X8 ....which is really frustrating as each version saves in a slightly different way.
I do know that you can save in an earlier version .... but it is a pita
Home version also greys out the menu bar up top ... so you need to explore more, - or know what you are looking for, it is harder to find stuff.
Why you buying home .....you are a business?

Commercial version is £600, sensible option is to use subscription and pay £200 per year upfront. Only reason I'm on the fence is I just want it on the Mac, I'm happy with older version on PC. It's only for occasional simple jobs on the move.

I've just found out I can install Win7 on Mac with a bit of work so would be able to run my older CorelDraw all being well.

Decided against cheaper X8, quite a few differences so commercial would be better.

if buying, be wary of microsoftstore.org.uk
they advertise product as in stock ... take your money ... then about 2 weeks later say they don't have it and give a refund .... WHILE STILL ADVERTISING the product!
Done this to me twice now - so mistrusted!
they are nopthing to do with microsoft either!

So I spoke to Corel Live Chat support to see which version they'd recommend......none was the answer! Can't recommend for running on Mac. I explained it's running Win10 but they said it's 'too risky' but can't tell me why.

Corel obviously have an issue with Apple, never making an iOs version and now this! lol

NOt the answer for your question, but it will be better for you if you just use illustrator. Bit different but you can get use to it.
