Re: Opinions Please? the follow up!

So,

today I unpacked two orders of clothing that I have put in for the shop opening next week. Each order was about £800 and both the suppliers have been mentioned at some time or another on this forum.

So, the first order was unpacked and everything was neatly placed in the boxes (t-shirts, hoodies etc) and the invoice was neatly laid out. If there was 10 or more of a particular item they were bagged and tagged so it was easier to check off and probably identify when required for customisation.

The 'other' order looked like it had been thrown in 3 boxes, and I mean thrown. A few of the garments also had black oily marks on them and to be totally honest compared to the other supplier it was a shambles.

So, what am I to expect .............. was the first supplier exceptional and the second what is expected or am I right in thinking that if I've given this supplier my custom and have spent nearly two grand with them in the last couple of months I should expect a little pride when items are being packed?

I won't mention the suppliers names as this isn't my intention to name and shame, besides I have sent them an e-mail enquiring if this is the 'norm' and to ask about 'missing' items. I merely want to know what to expect in the future.

If your ordering t 'shirts this does sometimes happen unless you order in 6's or 12's of the same size. When the pickers are putting together orders they sometimes have to break into a pkt of 6 - the rest of the t'shirts lie there in an open box in a mucky warehouse until they are called off and inevitably they get creased/dirty.

I always try to order in 6's or 12's - if shirts arrive dirty send them back straight away and get replacements.

We're always quick to name companies that have done a great job so I have no problems in you naming companies that havn't. I'm sure they'll put it right to your satisfaction and will have a good explanation. Mistakes happen and if companies act quickly to rectify the problem it isn't usually a problem. As long as all comments are based upon fact it's good to get a fair assesment on suppliers.

I ordered a load of samples from a well known sublimation supplier a few years back and it was a similar story. Everything had just been thrown into a box, no packing, jigsaws were loose so I had to spend time putting the bloody things back together before I could do anything!

I agree with Justin.

If I have recommended a company on here then other people order off them and get a bad service it would be better for us to know. If the numbers getting bad service outweigh the ones getting good service then at least people can make a judgement based on all the facts

I think if you've spent that kind of money then you should expect some kind of consideration.

I don't do a lot of garments, but I'm occasionally ordering small quantities of different sizes/colours from a supplier for a returning customer. I've never had cause to complain. The items aren't individually packed and I wouldn't expect them to be, but they are folded neatly enough and put in a protective bag. They don't make much money from my orders but I'll always buy from them (even if they're not the cheapest) because I know I'll receive usable items.

If they were thrown into a box and, worse still, dirty with oily marks, I'd send them back with a note saying "I didn't buy your laundry".

At least you know who not to buy from in the future. I think you should certainly name the company in question so that we know who to be wary of in the future - and also update us on how they deal with your complaint, to keep things fair. If you get shoddy goods but the supplier bends over backwards to rectify their error, then that is as much a good comment as it is bad.

Thanks guys - I will let you know what happens when they read my e-mail and reply. Like I said, if they rectify the error and all is sorted then it's a 'learning curve' for both parties ............... might have been a rouge picker or something.

Ref naming them, I think I should give them the opportunity to reply back first (you never know, they might be reading this post?).
