Where am i going wrong here?
Re: Where am i going wrong here?
Hi guys.
I've managed to sublimate a number of mugs successfully from the bottom (using Truepix manually cutting) however i am now using BMS pre cut and having fading issues at the bottom.
DF1 Genius set to 170oc for 140 seconds.
Does it make any difference which direction i should enter the mug into the press? Not enough pressure perhaps? The black is watercolour btw.
Cheers.
Nick

You'll find a number of posts discussing this issue. You need to get heat into the base area as this is thicker.

I preheat for 20 seconds the lower inch of the mug, you still might struggle to get right to the base.
Re: Where am i going wrong here?
Is it ok to preheat the mug to 110oc then add the heat tape / paper?
Re: Where am i going wrong here?
A bit more pressure would help as well as you are starting to get the flaming effect and not just fading..

Re: Where am i going wrong here?
Stupid question but how do you pre-heat the base only? Just have it sticking out of the press? Won't that damage the element? I'm getting the same issue but only with darker coloured mugs at the bottom and its driving me mad. I don't want to tell people I can't do dark mugs and turn away the business but at the same time, its costing me a fortune in paper/inks/mugs. All my lighter coloured ones come out fine.
I've attached a picture, hopefully it should work - it was quite hard to photograph how much it was faded to be honest...and the writing is not blurry, thats just my bad photography!
