Please help - icc profiles? What on earth is this

hi, can i ask what icc profile you are using with the sg2100?

First off can I ask what software you are using?

For me, I downloaded both Photoshop and corel draw, and have found corel draw to be the better of the 2.

For corel I am using the SPR2400 enhMatte Bstphoto.icc while in my printer preference I am changing the "Select print quality" to quality priority.

I found that Selecting high quality caused an issue with ink smudges.

tonight its been perfected! 180c at 35 seconds and gained the result as pictured below. (I'm apologise for the image)

Hi, yea as you can prob guess I'm new to this sublimation but have a lot of experience in transfer printing and vinyl cutting so currently use coral draw x7 and also have silhouette cameo with the silhouette software, also using a sublimation ink that was recommended by a friend but he's not to great with setting everything up but gets spot on results. Currently only printing to fabric as still reading up on what mug press to purchase. And yes you are 100% correct.... Google search... Pulling hair out lmao.

Also what paper do you select? Eg photo glossy, inkjet?

New too, only started actually getting results 2 nights ago, a lot of trial and error, hence why I keep my eyes here, hoping I can help anyone out thats using the same ricoh. I am probably shooting myself in the foot by posting here as alot of people will try it, but like another member said, just because you get it to work it doesnt mean that anyone else will.

The plain paper option.

I found that if I select anything else I get smudges on the paper that transfer to the cups. Also when I print a sheet out because I am trying to utilize the paper as much as possible it was also causing the transfer to smudge more when it was left sitting for a few days.

Lesson learned from that one - every time I place paper on a mug to line it up tape one side check the cup, clean, tape the other side and press.

ICC profiles are specific not only to the printer model, but also to the inks (not all sublimation inks are the same) and transfer paper you use.
Also, when the profile was created, the settings used then define how much ink was used (paper/print quality settings) so you need to use whichever settings that were used to create the profile.
If your profile was supplied with your inks, then you should be OK, but there is not much point in sending this profile to anyone else unless they are using the same printer, inks, transfer papers etc.
Ideally, as each printer is going to print slightly differently, you'll want to get a bespoke profile made for your printer, inks, and transfer papers (and then not change any of them, or you'll need a new profile making) If you want the absolute best results, then you'll get your own profiling kit, and make profiles for each different product type/material you print to, as the colour of what you're printing

This is a great thread, lots of useful information. I have owned the 3100 and all the kit for a few months now and last night decided to try it out for the first time. Have to say that i am pretty impressed overall with the results! I have not created an ICC profile yet for Photoshop (running Windows 10, Sublijet inks with PS) - do i need to create a profile or is it already "built in" to the settings?

It is built in if you are printing to Power Driver, but you would be better off using the Sawgrass ICCs and let Photoshop do the colour management, and just print to the Ricoh driver.

Thank you Pisquee. My colours are printing much darker when i select the Powerdriver printer, the Ricoh Printer seems to be printing off more or less perfect. I have followed the instructions here: http://sawgrassink.indigofiles.com/prod ... CS6-PD.pdf - not sure why this is happening.

You have Photoshop, a very powerful piece of software, that is very good at colour management - use it with the Sawgrass ICC profiles, and you're set. You don't need PowerDriver, Photoshop will do a better job.

make sure the paper settings are on plain paper if ricoh glossy will lay down too much ink also jmake sure icc profiles are swtiched OFF on the ricoh driver. Photo shop settings should be let photoshop manage colour pick the correct profile and use perceptual intent if using images and relative if using flat art , if a combination then use perceptual. (youll only see a difference if there are out of gamut colours in your file:)
