Hello Vicky, another option you could think about is sourcing out for now and using your time to see if the adventure is viable ,
im based in South Wales too your more than welcome to visit and see if it's what you want to do, I have sublimation set up here but find its very hard for the start up to get enough work in to even cover costs.,

Look on ebay people are selling mugs for £4.75 DELIVERED theae people sell lots so get cheaper postage thats your competition its not worth it. Youre best off finding local clients i sell mugs for 8.99 and get i sell a good amount locally.

Epson 3010 = £70 (Ebay UK)
Refill carts for above = £10 (Ebay China)
Set of InkTec 100ml inks £50 (Ebay UK)
ICC Profile for above = £25 (Paul on this forum)
Generic Chinese Mug Press = £50 (Ebay UK)

===========
Hardware = £205
===========

Jetstream Tranfer Paper (100 sheets) = £10.99
Heat Tape = £2.50
36 Mugs = £28.99

======================
Materials = £43 (From Coralgraph)
======================

Although strictly the materials aren't part of your set up cost, as in an ideal world, you'd be selling all 36 mugs at £10 each, but there will be some wastage as you practice and get set up. This route is within your budget, but will only work if you are technically minded and good at problem solving. All the items listed above will be good for the job, except buying Chinese mug presses is a gamble, some are fantastic and last for years, others are crap straight out the box.
If you want the easy route, then by all means, go and buy a Ricoh or Epson set up from a Sawgrass dealer, but you'll be paying 10x the price for their consumer level inks, compared to the pro level InkTec inks.
Above list, also as previously mentioned, assumes you have a computer already with good image editting software, and are good at art/designing - if you are a good artists/designer, you'll be fine, even if your first few mugs are a little shoddy, people will still buy them!
