Re: New Sublijet cartridge not recognised by 4015 printer

Post by Greybeard »

I've just installed a 'new' set of Sublijet carts (bought off ebay, but I'm confident they are genuine), but the yellow one is not recognised. (Use by date is 31/12/2015)
When pushing them home, it did catch on something, and I had to retry, but the second time it went in OK, but was not recognised.
A slight possibility that something got bent, but a visual inspection looks OK, with no sign of any damage to the fine contacts at the rear of the housing on the printer.

I'm not expecting any official support, as they were not bought directly from a recognised supplier.

Any thoughts or advice welcome.

John

EDIT Perhaps I should add that the original cartridge, replaced, is immediately recognised.
I don't have a third one that I could try !

Update - Remembered a third cartridge, a resettable one containing flushing solution.
Put that in, and it was recognised.
Re-tried the Sublijet, but it's still a no no.

Maybe you could try this.
If you can open the cartridge, open the old and the new and swap the ink over. Put the old, recognised , cartridge back in and you could now have a full ink supply. You might have to reset it though.

Sometimes you get a cart with a faulty chip ive had this a couple of times and sent back and had a replacement but then ive bought from authorised dealers id say youve had it with that one try conmtact the seller and see if you can get anywhere with them , i doubt opening up the cart and swapping the inks over as you would need to reset the chip and if you could do that you might aswell just swap the chips over

Hi guys,
As per my #2, I do have a resettable cart, so I'll switch the ink into that one.
Just needed someone else to suggest it ;)

It's quite common for large format printer refill carts to be supplied without chips, and you then buy the appropriate chips separately and stick them on, and then replace when/if they go bad.

It does work to swap the ink over. I ordered the wrong cartridge a few years ago and the supplier wouldnt take it back as Id opened it. Someone suggested I swap the ink and thats what I did. Didnt reset the chip, it carried on working.
Hope you got it sorted.
