Just to update:

After giving it some time to acclimatise, we've just set up the new printer. The quality of the prints is superb with zero banding.

I've just spoke to the retailer, and they're exchanging the printer. They've also allowed me to order the new one to be delivered before the first one is picked up, so at least the wife will be sorted for Friday. <br/>
